As a student, and pioneer of British Aikido from the 1950s, also, being one of the very first of a group of just five dan grades [black belts] approved and graded by the legendary Kenshiro Abbe Sensei, we were the only 5 dan grades for Aikido in the UK at that time.

I am often asked how I became involved in the Martial Arts.

For me there is much more than simply being involved with MA, it is more about a life from childhood living through WW2, of survival, self discipline - strength of character, determination, sporting fitness, these are the events that culminate to make a person achieve their ultimate goal. a goal where everything is earned and nothing is given.
